To automatically add an attribute to a contact, you can Create an automation or use an existing automation. Adding an attribute to a contact requires the use of automation rules.
Imagine that you want to organize a seminar for Executives. You create your landing page which you promote on Facebook and Messenger. You want a Status attribute to be added to all contacts that click on your landing page subscription button, with the value Executive.
First, create an Executive attribute automation (should Blank slate for the automation type). In optin parameter, enter your landing page optin parameter.
Make sure to unselect Show in welcome menu.
Then add a rule to your automation.
- Select "On Get started". Here, you can select any other option on the drop list. Just make sure it matches your objectives.
- In the Perform field, select the Set contact attribute.
- In the Attribute section that will be displayed, add the Name and Value of the attribute you want to add to your contacts profile.
- Click on Create rule.
The entered attribute will be added to any contact who visits the m.me link of your automation (make sure to include it in your promotional message) or on your landing page call to action.
